Winston Churchill and Prime Time for Women…What????
I never really thought I had anything in common with Winston Churchill, but I was wrong! Several years ago, when Prime Time for Women first became a designated 501(c)3 nonprofit, I dreamt of hosting a Women’s Empowerment Conference in Washington County, Maryland to celebrate, connect and empower women from diverse backgrounds with the goal of making our community and state stronger, healthier, and happier places to live and work. I’ve been thinking about that possibility ever since! Without knowing it, I have been channeling Churchill’s famous advice for years: “Never give up on something you can’t go a day without thinking about.”
Since 1911, International Women’s Day (IWD) has been held annually as “a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging women’s equality.” For the past few years, Prime Time for Women has marked IWD in small ways, mainly by amplifying voices committed to ending violence against women and gender discrimination. But this year’s International Women’s Day theme “Inspire Inclusion” compelled us to do more as it perfectly resonates with PTFW’s core tenant: “All women deserve to be seen and heard…and when they are, they inspire others!”
So…I’m thrilled to announce that on March 8th, Prime Time for Women will host “Inspire Inclusion”, the first-ever International Women’s Day Conference to be held in Washington County, Maryland. We will join women around the world in a day of global celebration that highlights grassroots activism and the power of women working together to change the world.
Incredibly gifted and talented speakers from diverse backgrounds will share their thoughts and lead workshops that model, encourage, empower, and inspire inclusion in many aspects of life. Toni Bowie, M.A., CPC, CDE, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Expert; Elizabeth Chung, Executive Director of the Asian American Center of Frederick; Tekesha Martinez, Mayor of Hagerstown; Nitzalis Rivera, Owner of Spanish for All and; Kate Ryan, Disability Advocate; Orsolya Herbein, Owner of Brand3, Inc, are just a few of the powerful and inspirational women we will be privileged to hear from at the conference! Tickets are available now! Come prepared to connect, learn, share, and engage on topics important to every woman. This is your day to be inspired and inspire others!
