Every Wednesday morning, rain or shine, a familiar figure arrives early at the ARCC at Hagerstown Community College for Walking to Wellness, Prime Time for Women’s weekly walking program. With a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready, Ray Mihm has become more than just a regular walker—he’s the heartbeat of our walking community.

For over three years, Ray has shown up with unwavering dedication, not just to get his steps in, but to lift the spirits of everyone around him. His irreverent sense of humor is legendary—he has a knack for making people laugh just when they need it most. Whether it’s a clever quip or a playful tease, Ray’s presence turns an ordinary walk into a joyful journey.

But beyond the laughter, it’s Ray’s big heart that truly sets him apart. He, along with his friends Dave Brechbiel and Skip Horner, man the registration table every week, reminding people to sign in and also asking (or if you know, Ray, coercing) members to make a donation.

What many may not know is that Ray is also a gifted potter. His exquisite bowls and vases, inspired by the beauty of nature, are true works of art. This past year, I had the joy of purchasing several of his vases to give as Christmas presents—and let me just say, they were a huge hit! Each piece carries the same warmth and authenticity that Ray brings to our walks.

Ray’s talent is as big as his heart. To support Prime Time for Women, our small, all-volunteer nonprofit, he recently donated a beautiful vase and three whimsical toadstool figurines to be raffled off, with all proceeds going directly to support our mission. His generosity is just one more way he continues to give back to the community he loves.

Ray reminds us that wellness isn’t just about physical health—it’s about connection, creativity, and community. He embodies the spirit of Prime Time for Women, proving that one person really can make a difference.
