PTFW Celebrates the 32nd National Senior Health & Fitness Day!

National Senior Health and Fitness Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of healthy aging. Embracing vitality through regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and wellness practices can significantly enhance quality of life at every age. Staying active supports physical health, emotional well-being, and reduces the risk of dementia.  Prime Time for Women is doing its part to help seniors remain independent and engaged in the activities they love. Join us for a special day of fun activities at the Fit Room at Fairgrounds Park on Wednesday, May 28 from noon- 2 PM. Meet new friends, exercise with friends and enjoy lunch at Still Smokin’ BBQ food truck!

Inspiring Seniors on National Health and Fitness Day

This day is more than a calendar event—it’s a celebration of resilience and the joy of movement. Whether you are an exercise enthusiast or want to pursue a healthier lifestyle, Prime Time for Women encourages seniors to participate in activities they already enjoy and also explore new forms of exercise, including walking, dancing, swimming, golf and tai chi.

Fostering Wellness and Social Connections

Healthy aging goes beyond fitness—it includes emotional wellness, lifelong learning and social connection. Group activities like Walking to Wellness, PTFW’s weekly walking program and fitness classes offer opportunities to build friendships and share experiences. Celebrating this day together fosters a sense of belonging and encourages continued progress in a supportive community.

Staying Motivated: Tips for Success

Maintaining motivation can be tough, but small steps make a big difference. Here are a few tips:

  • Set realistic goals and celebrate progress.
  • Join a walking group or fitness class.
  • Vary your activities to stay engaged.
  • Listen to your body and rest when needed.
  • Consult a healthcare provider before starting new routines.

Community Support for Senior Wellness

Communities play a key role in promoting senior health. Accessible programs, safe walking paths, and social events encourage healthy aging. On National Senior Health and Fitness Day, Prime Time for Women is proud to partner with the City of Hagerstown Department of Parks & Recreation to highlight a variety of exercise programs led by engaging and knowledgeable fitness experts!

Along with its partners, Prime Time for Women is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive space where women are empowered to live healthy, fulfilling lives through connection and shared purpose.
