Celebrating One of Our Own: Chef Carol Crosby

In 2022, when I was writing the food blog, “A Yummy Year: Cultures, Cooking & Connections”, I was privileged to meet and cook with women from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds each month. In October I met Chef Carol Munyua-Crosby, entrepreneur extraordinaire and owner of Harambee 54. You can read the entire blog here but let me just summarize by saying that the stories Carol shared of her native Kenya and her journey to becoming a chef were entertaining, passionate and incredibly inspiring!

Like Ralph Waldo Emmerson, Carol believes “Life is a journey, not a destination.” An ardent supporter of Prime Time for Women, Carol recently spoke at our first-ever International Women’s Day Conference to share her journey through the art of African dance and music. She isn’t afraid of hard work; in fact, she seems to thrive on it. She dreams BIG because she likes a challenge. To be called a “dreamer” is not always a compliment.” It sometimes refers to someone who spends a lot of time thinking about and planning for things that they would like to happen, but which are improbable or impractical. Carol is NOT that kind of dreamer! Carol is the kind of dreamer who envisions her goals, plans accordingly and strategically pursues them right into existence. I call that manifestation!

That’s why I wasn’t surprised when Carol recently invited me to join her for a media event highlighting, the 19 th Hole, her new restaurant located at Black Rock Golf Course. Thanks to Carol’s innovative spirit, during the day she will serve traditional & “golf course fare” and in the evening host private events featuring African cuisine, music, dancing and art. I’m excited to be part of the team planning the GRAND OPENING of the 19th Hole! I am thrilled to invite members of PTFW’s “Connections Over Competition Golf League” to join me on Thursday, May 30th, from 11 AM-1 PM. This FREE event will feature a putting contest, delicious food and beverages, and prizes! No registration is required, so grab your putter and meet me there! Not a golfer, no problem…you are in your prime, try something new!
