On September 3, 2024, Prime Time for Women’s “Prime-A-Donna Dancers” made history as the first dance troupe to perform at a Flying Boxcars game!  This amazing intergenerational dance troupe demonstrated to the world the joy of living life to the fullest at every age!  It would not have been possible without the support of the Flying Boxcars staff, especially Maggie Piazza.  Maggie, who was flexible and encouraging and graciously facilitated two practices on the field before the actual performance!  On behalf of Prime Time for Women I’ve had the privilege to work with many community organizations and business so I know what collaboration looks like.  Let me just say this…it looks like The Flying Boxcars!

PTFW is grateful to the ever-generous Tina Fraley for allowing the Prime-A-Donnas to gather, learn, practice and rehearse the dance routines at Power House Studios.  At the first week of practice, the women gathered as strangers but by the time they performed at Meritus Park the women were friends who had exercised and laughed together, teased each other, and had tremendous fun as they challenged themselves to dance before a crowded stadium!

As we say at Prime Time for Women, “We are not done, yet!  We have more to explore, lots to learn, challenges to conquer, and passions to discover.  And we know how to have fun!” But you don’t have to take my word for it!  Below are some of the comments from the Prime-A Donnas themselves:

Lisa Molnar: Thank you for this one-of-a-kind experience!  I never expected to dance in front of a large crowd, let alone on a professional baseball field.  Coming onto the field through the “tunnel’ and having the Flying Boxcar team walk past us into the dugout just put the icing on the cake!  Thank you so much for the memory!

Melissa Pennington: Thank you for letting the Associate Degree of Nursing students at Valley College and myself participate in such an amazing experience. The intergenerational connection and the opportunity to inspire others made this a fantastic experience!

Cindy Miller:  Great fun last evening at the ball game. I would never have thought of doing this when I was younger. Dance debut at 76!  I wonder what adventure awaits me around the corner!
