PTFW Celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day
National Senior Health & Fitness Day® is the nation’s largest annual older adult health and wellness event. Its motto is “Move today for a better tomorrow.” This event is always held on the last Wednesday in May. Prime Time for Women has participated in this annual event in the past on a small scale. But this year, we are going BIG! That’s right, for the 32nd Annual event, Prime Time for Women is collaborating with local partners including Hagerstown Parks & Rec, Washington County Health Department, Washington County Department of Recreation and Kinesthetic Solutions to host a variety of super fun activities that foster health and wellness. Participants will be joining more than 100,000 seniors at more that 1000 community events across the country for an exciting day of fun activities designed to encourage physical, mental and social health. If interested in purchasing a t-shirt from the national organization, click here.
This exciting event will be held on Wednesday, May 28 from 12-2 PM at the Fit Room at Fairgrounds Park (315 N. Cleveland Ave.) We will start off the day with Walking to Wellness, PTFW’s weekly walking program. After walking the beautiful grounds at Fairgrounds Park, local recreation leaders including yoga instructors, belly dance teachers, Zumba teachers and more will lead short demonstration classes. In addition to some really fun programs and classes, attendees can grab a delicious lunch from Still Smokin’ BBQ, a food truck known for its Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken sandwiches, not to mention its Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausages! Follow Prime Time for Women on Facebook for more details!
Speaking of health and wellness, Prime Time for Women was founded based on research that highlighted the health benefits of positive social connections, which all of our programs emphasize.
