Dr. Ellen Bentz serves as the Vice President for Infection Prevention, Safety and Reliability for Bon Secours Mercy Health. Ellen has accountability for advancing safety, reliability, performance improvement and infection prevention efforts across the ministry’s continuum.
With over three decades of clinical nursing, performance improvement, infection prevention and quality consulting, Ellen is delighted for the opportunity to contribute her knowledge, skills, and abilities to advancing healthcare.
Ellen earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Santa Monica Community College, her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Temple University, her Master’s in Public Health from Drexel University, and her Ph.D. from Walden University. As lifelong learner, she is currently working on her Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree. An avid crafter, hiker, runner and reader, she lives with her teenagers in Hagerstown MD and spends her free time with her feet in the sand at the New Jersey ‘shore’ and her head in the clouds.
When asked why she was interested in serving on the PTFW Board of Directors, Ellen said, “I think very few women look forward to the milestones of aging: menopause, empty nest, turning 50, and growing older in general. We hear about ‘over the hill’ and ‘losing our looks’ yet as I embark into this new phase of life, I am experiencing a sense of peaceful energy. My children demand less of me, my wrinkles no longer surprise me, and I view the world with eyes that see softer edges and natural beauty. Prime Time for Women embodies this new world view and I welcome the opportunity to celebrate and spread the ‘secret’ that that life reinvents itself and rewards us with each passing year.
